Music at Porchfest
Sat., Oct. 19, 2024: I live in an artistic and musical household. I’m the artist, and Eric (the hubs) is the musician. He doesn’t gig as much as he used to, but when he does, he’s usually recruited by a band. In this case, the Amblers, who’ve played at Porchfest for 10 years, needed a bassist, so Eric (who is also a drummer) joined in.
Porchfest is an extremely cool event that happens every October in Decatur, Georgia. An older neighborhood recruits bands to play on their porches for an hour. So imagine walking about a neighborhood and hearing bands play music on porches that you pass while walking. Bands start at noon and they don’t stop until 7 pm, and once a band is finished playing on the ‘porch’ that recruited them, they’re done. There’s also food and rides and other tents selling various items. It’s hard to believe that when you’re there, you’re inside the perimeter of Atlanta.
