And a New One Has Started

This cat is too funny not to paint.

In all honesty, I enjoy painting the most when I can laugh at my subject/s. I guess that’s why I paint so many critters, esp. cats.

However, this one is a little different in that after the initial blocking, I added gesso for texture first. If you follow the knife marks on the gesso I applied to the canvas, you will notice that they reflect a lot of the movement in the reference. I’m going to use my usual dot and line style, and I plan to concentrate the dots on the main focus — the diamond-shaped face of this incredible feline.

And yes, that face will fill up almost the entire canvas!
